The house sits on a slope that faces south-west. We set the living room into the hill, so the afternoon sun reaches the back wall and the garden starts at the window sill.

Concrete where the walls carry, larch for everything else. The family wanted no corridor, so every room opens from the stairs.

Studio

Since 2009

We draw the plan before the facade.

Bauform is twelve architects and one model maker in a former print shop. We design houses for families, offices for small companies and, now and then, a library.

A building should work before it looks good, and then look good for fifty years. So we keep the forms simple, the materials honest and the drawings exact.

Process

Four steps
  1. 1

    Listen

We come to the site and ask how you will live, work or read in it. Then we measure.

  2. 2

    Sketch

Three plans on paper, each from a different idea. You pick one, or the best of each.

  3. 3

    Draw

Every room in detail, the light at every hour, the costs line by line.

  4. 4

    Build

We stay on the site until the last door closes properly. Then we hand you the keys.
